Band Bios – Showcase 2012

Bart Budwig and the Royal We                 website
You don’t have to live in sunless Seattle to appreciate Budwig’s music.  Lyrically Budwig’s music is unquestionably deep, even melancholy at times.  But it’s effortless to look beyond the sometimes-heart-wrenching words with Budwig’s choice palette of smooth upbeat folk rock, and blues.
Influential Artists: Sera Cahoone John Craigie, Jason Webley, The Horse Thieves, Damien Rice, Josh Ritter, Brett Dennen.

Bare Wires                                          website
Bare Wires is a guitar-driven four piece blues rock band based in Moscow, Idaho.  Originally formed in early 2003, Bare Wires has gone through a few membership changes.  However, the current version of the band which was created in early 2008, has been creating the most excitement and buzz from their fans and listeners.  Bare Wires builds their recognizable sound around the aggressive style of the lead guitarist, Marty Yterberg, the vocal skills of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Doug Lind, the bass groove of bass guitarist and vocalist Dave Graham, and the solid and musical percussion of Tom Garrett.
Bare Wires has been turning a lot of heads in the Moscow/Pullman area.  Their fan base grows with each show as a testament to their talents both as musicians and performers.  It is difficult to articulate what Bare Wires’ sound actually is.  However they rock; they’ve got soul; their original material demonstrates the band’s maturity and talent, and shows just how versatile and interesting this band is to experience.

Jeremiah Akin                                           website
Jeremiah Akin has come a long way since the days of junior high school, which were frequently spent in a dark bedroom writing poems of unrequited love, evangelistic hip-hop lyrics, and songs he hoped would someday have the same seductive power of the popular Backstreet Boys song “Tearin’ Up My Heart”.  In the last year, he has become a published poet and essayist and released his first full-length album, Weeping Prophet and the Brads of Apollo.  He is currently working on his second album while finishing his bachelor’s degree in creative writing with a minor in music at the University of Idaho.  He plans to begin his first national tour in June.

Kronos & the Time Lords/ MHHC (Moscow Hip Hop Crew)website
Kronos & the Time Lords/ MHHC is a hip-hop crew formed in the fall of 2010. The group as a whole has a certain fascination with Sci-Fi and it dominates a large percentage of their lyrical content. They are in the process of recording an album in their home studio that will be titled, “The Prophet, The Pirate and The Rebel”. Their instrumentals are often ambient, melodic and centered around a strong, danceable beat. Jazz and funk influences are apparent in much of their music.  The MC’s all have their own unique, high energy stage presence and they often promote crowd participation.
Wade Schumaker – MC
Tristan Sokol – MC
Joe Marsh – MC
Nevada Sowle – MC/ Instrumentalist
Ben Morris- Instrumentalist / singer

The Long Tide
Acoustic folk music with jazz, blues, hip hop, and gypsy influences with the possibility of spontaneous improvisational pieces at any given moment.   Sultry bass lines, free-flow djembe, and powerful vocals combine to take us down to our deep roots in the universal fluid rhythm we call Long Tide.
Tara Howe- guitar, vocals doumbek/congas.
Troy Robey – upright bass, vocals
Bennett Barr- djembe, accordion, vocals

Double G – The Funky One Man Band
When you talk of soul, you talk of the blues.  Gary George was born an Idaho boy, but soaked up the Texas and Louisiana influences of his childhood.  The mesmerizing riffs of guitar legends mixed with his southern fried blues and rock started him on his journey to the blues, but the spiritual lifting gospel music of southern Louisiana brought his soul home.  He returned to Idaho to receive his college degree in Architecture, and brought his love of music into that as well.  Gary George created his first custom guitar as part of his thesis and opened doors between music and structural form.
He still continues on his journey of music and form.  His style of one man band, backwoods country funk and soul blues along with spiritual healing gospel music will rejuvenate your soul, while his custom guitars will astonish you with their sweet sounds.
“Simply enjoy listening to the music and let it heal your soul”

Rendezvous 4 Kids

Walked through East City Park yesterday in the driving snow. With a friend here from out of town, I was pointing out where the stage is, where the food booths and wine exist, the artist vendor tables. “And there, and there, and there….the kids gather during the day to make art…” For a moment it was summer again. Let’s fill the park again with the happy sound of creative children! It is time to register to put on a children’s art workshop.
